Like most NGO's AJMU do not provide free cloth, food etc to underprivileged women, instead AJMU provide training to them so that they can buy their cloths and food.
Helping Other NGO's
AJMU not only provides training to its members but also extended trainings to so many non-member underprivileged women of the community through other NGO's who are working for the same cause.
The organisation impart training to the house hold women to promote capacity buildup in various fields of activities like Design Development, Fashion Forecasting, Sewing, Embroidery works, Beautician etc.
The organisation also arranges to engage them in various earning activities in post training periods. Till date more than 3000 women received complete practical as well as theoretical training on design development and sewing and have started income as general tailors/ designers in the market. The each training course is held for 3 months and after completion of the course the examination is conducted by the qualified trainers. On successful completion of the course, certificates recognised by government of West Bengal are awarded to the trainees.
Our effort got tremendous response from the inhabitants of the locality because these training programs got significant changes to the socio economic status of these poor women and led them the path of income generating activities. With the help of our organisation majority of the trainees after completion of their training has started their own readymade garment business. By god grace, the product has received an excellent marketability. Incidentally we also sell our products at various fairs through our stalls. So presently the organisation is very much under pressure from the local people to extend the training centres at every nook and corner, but due to fund constraints we have till date manage to stick at 16 such training centres. We have therefore appealed to all kind hearted people to extend their support of any kind and cooperation which will enable us to reach desire goal for betterment of more women belonging to weaker community and insure promotion and development of rural enterprises.
Year wise proliferation of training centres and number of Trainees as detailed here under should justify our efforts in this regards.
We are happy to announce that NABARD NATIONAL BANK FOR AGRICULTURA AND RURAL DEVELOPMENT (NABARD) visited our training centres and meticulously observed our activities and sanctioned a grant to meet the project cost on Skill Development Initiatives (SDI) for vocational training on tailoring, for our group members, in the year 2010. Each and every trainee has succeeded in their professional carrier either by starting their own business or by joining AJMU as a trainer (all above mentioned trainers were AJMU trainees).
